Alki Coffee & Ben & Jerry’s
Alki Coffee & Ben & Jerry’s
We’re thrilled to announce the completion of our latest hospitality project—the transformation of a former Starbucks space into two vibrant new destinations: Alki Coffee and Ben & Jerry’s, right on the iconic Alki Beach.
This unique renovation is more than just a tenant improvement—it’s a complete reimagining of the space to support two distinct yet complementary brands. Working closely with owners Jonathan Stebbins and Mark Mullet, along with Jackson | Main Architecture, JMR delivered this project ahead of schedule and under budget, without compromising an ounce of craftsmanship.
Highlights of the project include:
- Extensive below-slab plumbing upgrades, including two new grease interceptors and multiple water/sink line installations
- Custom cabinetry and casework, handcrafted by JMR’s in-house carpenters to fit the shop’s unconventional layout and specialized operational needs
- Quartz solid surface countertops throughout both spaces, adding durability and a polished look
- Stainless steel–clad casework and counters for the Ben & Jerry’s side, built to perform under heavy daily use
- Locally sourced wood accents, reclaimed from trees downed in the 2024 “bomb cyclone,” featured at the coffee bar, fireplace surround, and columns—bringing warmth and a sense of place to the customer experience
- Electrical upgrades and new HVAC, ensuring comfort, functionality, and code compliance
Whether you’re a restaurateur, franchisee, or designer dreaming up your next concept, JMR brings the creativity, precision, and problem-solving to get it done right. From thoughtful use of reclaimed materials to custom-built solutions, this project is a showcase of what’s possible when attention to detail meets efficient execution.
